Smooth Traveling
Yesterday's traveling was fantastic-- uneventful and actually fun. We were all super nervous in the morning, but there wasn't even a single glitch or problem! Every time we came across a line (security, customs, etc), they would take one look at us and all of our children and pull us out of the line and zip us to the front of a new line. We were so so happy for this, as it made the entire trip so much shorter. The plane was packed... not even 1 empty seat. I was squished by the window with Ruby and Julia and we were all sitting next to a very serious, unamused British man. Frank was behind us with Alexis and Liza and we passed Ruby back and forth through the flight. The girls had their own little entertainment systems in their seat of the plane, which was amazing. It kept them busy the entire flight (plus a few snacks and fun treats). Ruby barely cried the whole flight and slept twice. She seemed to enjoy the plane and playing peak-a-boo through the seats. We got to our house before 11pm London time. The house we're staying in is awesome. It's a town house... super tall and narrow, with a tiny patio and balcony. Julia is thrilled to have her own room. The twins have bunk beds. The first night was rough-- everyone was up past 1am and Ruby stayed up past 3am. Eventually she crashed and slept for a few hours. Today we're settling in. Julia and I took a walk through the neighborhood and really fell in love. Everything is so quaint and charming. I'm loving it. Julia is really into noticing all the differences and the accents. I think the neighborhood we're in (Chelsea) is like and upscale park slope.
